The third derivative of motion or the change in the rate of acceleration (also known as jerk) is examined in terms of its applicability to the study of psychophysiological function. An algorithm of this third derivative is presented to show that jerk can be derived from the arithmetic difference of two slopes which constitute the portion of motion being differentiated. By modifying the algorithm, a new parameter termed “proportional jerk’ or PJ is formulated whereby one slope is measured relative to the other slope; this PJ provides information about the smoothness of movement without being influenced by the velocity as is the traditional jerk measure. A practical application of the PJ to waking saccades and REMs in 11 human subjects revealed that REMs are significantly “jerkier’ or less smooth than waking calibration eye movements. Whereas the waking eye movements had a well-defined negative phase of the PJ, the REMs did not show such stereotypical behavior. This is in accord with previous work which showed that waking saccade velocity increases to a maximum and then decreases whereas REMs maintain their peak or near peak velocities for varying periods. It was suggested that PJ can be useful in detecting subtle temporal changes in the course of movements and may be used as a parameter of motion even when the absolute amplitude is unknown.  相似文献

A new physical assay method for tobacco mosaic virus is described which incorporates two improvements on previous procedures. Losses of up to 75% of virus during extraction are corrected by adding a trace of radioactive virus to leaf samples before homogenization, and determining percentage recovery of radioactivity in final virus preparations. Estimation of virus concentration in partially purified preparations is from the first derivative (dA/d lambda) of the ultraviolet absorption spectrum, using a pronounced signal from the tryptophan fine-structure absorption band at 285-293 nm. This method is highly insensitive to ultraviolet-absorbing contaminants, which cause errors and increase variation between replicates, when estimation of virus concentration is by normal measurement of ultraviolet absorption (A260). The method can be applied to at least some other viruses.  相似文献

We have determined cutaneous DTH reactions to SK-SD and PPD and peripheral blood lymphocyte profiles in a group of asbestos workers in two consecutive surveys. It was found that asbestosis and, to a lesser extent, the presence of ANA are significantly correlated with the lack of response to the above antigens. 83% of asbestos workers when tested at a 4 year interval fell into the same two categories of responsiveness (lack of response or response at least to one antigen).The asbestosis cases had lower total lymphocyte count as well as proportions and absolute number of E-RFC as compared to asbestos workers without asbestosis and/or ANA. Furthermore, the latter group showed the lower percentages and absolute number of E-RFC than the matched controls. The presence of ANA is also correlated with lower proportions of E-RFC. However, this is related at least in part to asbestosis.  相似文献

A series of substances (designated CTQ compounds) with a guanidine group have been synthesized and tested for their ability to promote neuronal survival and neurite outgrowth. Mouse neuroblastoma clonal cell lines grown in serum-containing medium for 10 days as well as primary cultures of embryonic chicken ganglion neurons grown in serum-free defined medium for 1 or 2 days have been used for the experiments. Among the various CTQ compounds (CTQ1–CTQ20) tested, only CTQ8 exerted positive neurotrophic effects on these peripheral neuronal cells. At a concentration of 10−4 M, CTQ8 enhanced neuritogenesis of neuroblastoma cells. However, the most striking influence of CTQ8 was its promoting effect (6- to 10-fold) on the survival of chicken ciliary and dorsal root ganglionic neurons at concentrations ranging from 10−3 M to 5×10−4 M.  相似文献

The effects of variation of temperature in the range 0 degrees -40 degrees C on the zero and second derivative ultraviolet absorption spectra of ten compounds have been investigated. When the temperature of the solutions was increased, most of the substances showed a linear reduction of maximum absorbance (A(max)), with temperature coefficients of -0.07 +/- 0.03% per degree. The second derivative amplitudes of all the substances were reduced, with temperature coefficients (-0.1 to -0.5% per degree) that bore no significant relationship to those of the corresponding A(max) values. These effects on the extrema of the derivative spectra are explained by the small reduction in curvature at the corresponding wavelengths of the fundamental spectra, that occurs with increasing temperature. The precise and accurate assay of substances by derivative UV spectrophotometry requires that the temperatures of the standard and sample solutions are identical at the time of measurement.  相似文献

目的:探讨体外培养的类风湿性关节炎(RA)患者的滑膜细胞对光敏剂血淋甲醚(HMME)的吸收特点,并与目前常用的光敏剂血卟啉衍生物(HpD)进行对比。方法:用荧光分光光度计法检测RA滑膜细胞对HMME、HpD的吸收量与孵育时间和孵育浓度的关系。结果:①RA滑膜细胞对HMME、HpD的吸收量随着孵育浓度的增加而增加。当培养液中光敏剂浓度达80μg/ml时,孵育1h细胞内HMME含量达到饱和状态;而HpD的浓度要到140μg/ml时细胞内的吸收量才达到高峰,当两种光敏剂细胞内浓度均达高峰时,HMME的含量为HpD含量的2倍。②细胞对两种光敏剂的吸收量亦随着孵育时间的增加而增加,HMME吸收得更快,第15分钟时吸收量为最大吸收量的52.9%,第60分钟为84.4%,细胞对HpD的吸收第15分钟为49.1%,第60分钟为69.2%。结论:与光敏剂HpD相比,RA滑膜细胞能更多更快地吸收HMME。推测HMME较HpD更适合用于光动力疗法滑膜切除术。  相似文献

研制了新型壳聚糖胺基衍生物-乙二胺羟丙基壳聚糖(EDA-HPCS),并将其用于固定天门冬酰胺酶,分别考察了甲醛活化载体和戊二醛活化载体对固定化酶活力的影响,结果表明,在适当的固定化条件下,甲醛活化EDA-HPCS的固定化酶活力约为30U/g载体,而戊二醛活化EDA-HPCS固定化酶活力约为16U/g载体。  相似文献

This research provides a new framework based on a hybrid of block‐pulse functions and Legendre polynomials for the numerical examination of a special class of scalar nonlinear fractional optimal control problems involving delay. The concepts of the fractional derivative and the fractional integral are employed in the Caputo sense and the Riemann‐Liouville sense, respectively. In accordance with the notion of the Riemann‐Liouville integral, we derive a new integral operator related to the proposed basis called the operational matrix of fractional integration. By employing two significant operators, namely, the delay operator and the integral operator connected to the hybrid basis, the system dynamics of the primal optimal control problem converts to another system involving algebraic equations. Consequently, the optimal control problem under study is reduced to a static optimization one that is solved by existing well‐established optimization procedures. Some new theoretical results regarding the new basis are obtained. Various kinds of fractional optimal control problems containing delay are examined to measure the accuracy of the new method. The simulation results justify the merits and superiority of the devised procedure over the existing optimization methods in the literature.  相似文献

In this paper, we study fractional‐order optimal control problems (FOCPs) involving the Atangana‐Baleanu fractional derivative. A computational method based on B‐spline polynomials and their operational matrix of Atangana‐Baleanu fractional integration is proposed for the numerical solution of this class of problems. With this numerical technique, the FOCPs are reduced to a system of equations which are solved for the unknown parameters with the help of Mathematica® software. Our results show the applicability and usefulness of the numerical technique.  相似文献
